MEAKER IS NOT COMING

Reading winger Michael Meaker will not be joining Rovers after having held talks with the club.

Manager Ian Holloway claims that Meaker's wage demands were too high. The 26-year-old is available on a free transfer and is being tracked by a number of clubs.

ROVERS UNVEIL PLANS FOR GROUND REVAMP

Rovers are hoping to get help from the Football Trust in their bid to improve the Memorial Stadium.

The club has unveiled plans for a new 1,800 at the presently open Alton Road end, as well as putting a roof on terraces and improvements to floodlights.

ROVERS START UP NORTH

Rovers have been handed a tricky start to the new season with an opening day fixture at Burnley, who are under the new managership of Stan Ternant.

The first visitors to the Memorial Ground will be newly relegated Reading before they travel to Gillingham the following week.

The fixture list has handed Rovers home matches on Boxing Day and Easter Monday against Gillingham and Northampton Town respectively while the last home match will be a prestigious affair against Manchester City.
